  • Sadly, the likkle one didn't make it!

Upon my return home from meeting up with Jules, checked on likkle one to find him/her not moving and lifeless.

It held out for a few days, but at least I gave it a chance even if it was too early.

I'm gonna blame hubby for this one, cos he tempted fate by naming it last night Matrix (the one), would of been nice if it hadn't died.

Sad- but it did look very underdeveloped didn't it?

You certainly did your best for it

Yeah, kinda got myself into the frame of mind that it might not survive so as not to affect me as much as when the others all died.
Still upset about that, but hopefully the next set will actually go to term, and not die on me.

I dunno what I would of done without the help of all of you, besides going out of my mind.
      So onwards and upwards

Sorry to hear he didn't make it - its hard having chooks sometimes! I had a chick die at 5 weeks which seemed very unfair (on both of us). Better luck this time.

I seem to remember hearing from Corax (my daughter) about a hatch that went waaaay over time, and it turned out the incubator was operating at a couple of degrees below the proper temp. Can't remember the details but I have a feeling that was a duck hatching, and they went a week over date. I think she did get a few hatched in the end. Maybe next time she pops in she will be able to tell us about it.
