  • Rhubarbe Danger!!

freind of mine lost two girls to rhubarbe leaf poisoningshe was round for lunch yesterday and told me to move my plants in case, i never realised that!! apparently that's why it was traditionally planted at the entrance to potagers, to put off the bunnies

Interesting! There was a lot of discussion about this last year. Some of my ex-batts reduced the leaves of my rhubarb to lace a couple of seasons ago! However I'm pretty sure it was at the end of the season so maybe it's less toxic then? I have mine on the other side of the electric fence now anyway just in case.

It can be poisonous, depending on the time of the year and what variety of rhubarb the chicken may eat. It also depends on what the chicken has eaten beforehand.

it is poisonous, in very small quantities i believe it can be a natural wormer.

It's pretty bad for us - the leaves that is - so I wouldn't dream of letting my laydeez have it. They were begging for some yesterday though, as I passed them with the tops of the forced rhubarb for the compost heap!
