A warm bath - just the bum area - is supposed to help to relax the muscles. If she's still ok when you get back, try that - about half an hour is recommended. Hope she makes it, poor little thing.

Might she be broody? Has her comb gone pink rather than red?

Hi Birdie Wife,
her comb looks its normal red colour, she is just standing around and looks uncomfortable, I'll give the warm bath a go, I really hope it helps.

Well I have tried the warm bath, she sort of crumpled slowley while she was in it, I chatted to her & stroked her for about half an hour then wrapped her in a fluffy bath towel with just her head out as I was scared she would catch a chill, at that point I though I'd lost her as she just closed her eyes and was very still. I left her inside in a carboard box. Went back after 1 1/2 hours and she was out of the towel perched on the edge, lots of squawking when i picked her up to go back outside. She ate a little & drank but is very quiet. My hopes aren't high at the moment but fingers crossed she last's the night.

Sounds as if it could be softie. Very difficult to lay, like a small balloon full of water, so nothing to push against. Hope she's OK tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

If it's any help at all, I've just been through the same thing and mines come out the other side. I'm not sure she's 100% yet but she is much better than she was - walking, eating, drinking and doing general chicken things again.

I didn't do as much as you have so I'm pretty sure you'll see an improvement in thanks for your care

Mind you, I'd get her back in with the others very quickly as you'll have re-introduction issues which she won't need if she's still but under par - I never took mine out of the group - trying to bath a hen with 3 others trying to help is '"interesting". (Mine probably got better just to not have to be embarrassed like that ever again

)

Hi Guys, Well she is still with us, I really expected her to be dead in the coop this morning, then I expected the worst when I came home from work, no sign of her with the other girls so I looked [with my heart in my mouth] into the coop and she was on a perch so I took her out.
I noticed to day that she has crusty eyes and a crust around her nostrils, like she has a cold. She laid a thin shelled egg this morning too. She is not wheezing but her breathing is laboured and she kicked up quite a fuss when I picked her up. I've brought her inside, warm box, she had some water & a drop af bachs rescue remedy, ate a little. Fingers crossed now. None of the others are ill or under the weather, at the moment anyway.
