We are getting some chickens (ex Bats),Im starting to get all the bits we need together and need to know what does the perch have to be like?

(ie) round or square shaped


I know it needs to be as long as possible, but what shape and how thick?

Ps) Can anyone point me to a good web site that sells the metal feeders/waterers ?

Only 1 of the 6 ex-batts I have sleeps on the perch. It's sort of oblong and only about 4" off the floor, but that's the design of the coop. I don't mind them sleeping in the nest box, they've had a hard life so far and a bit of comfort doesn't come amiss (I hope!). Ok, I have to clean the lumps of poo out when I get them up in the morning so I don't get dirty eggs, but that's only a 2 minute job.

Feeders & water containers I got off Ebay, but my lot prefer to drink out of a 2 gallon bucket

We have had 4 chucks for nearly 9mths and none of them sleep on the perchs, but they do sit on the one in the covered area we have for them up the garden maybe so they dont get wet feet in all this rain :-}
