  • One step forward!

    ...and another step back!
The new run design is based on a frame of galvanised contruction angle, the sort you'd use for shelving. On Sunday I ordered a pack of 10 x 3m lengths plus nuts and bolts and such. The run is going to be 3m by 2.5 m and will be walk-in height. Superb service - they arrived this lunchtime - they sent 2m lengths. It's available in both.
Well, you start to think it's you, don't you? I went back to the order and yes, I'd ordered (and further more, paid for!) 3m lengths.

I emailed the company and a very nice young lady phoned me back and confessed she'd processed in wrongly, told me to take off the nuts and bolts pack and she would get the lengths of stuff exchanged. She'll get an ETA from the carrier and let me know - I imagine it will be Friday or Saturday judging by the time it took for the original order to come.

So - there's a chance we can start this weekend after all! Whooop!

Chicken run - here we come!

It's nice to hear someone actually admitting their mistakes isn't it? All systems go for the run this weekend then Are you going to practice sitting in it before your girls arrive?

But it was such a lovely and frank apology Snadger, you can't complain about that - as Maureen says, it's rare enough. It'll cost them two delivery charges too , so maybe she'll check future orders more carefully!

Looking forward to your help on the weather front Nicos. It WILL be good and solid - Himself can't possibly make ANYTHING without over-engineering it. Nothing he makes will ever fall down!

I wish I had an OH like that - if I want a run, I'll have to either build it myself or cough up the admittedly reasonable price charged by a local chap who makes such things for a living.

OTOH him indoors is an excellent cook, so at least I'd get a nice dinner after all my hard work

Oh rats! No building this weekend! I've had an email saying that the transport company will collect the wrong slotted angle stuff tomorrow but they won't collect and deliver the same day so they will deliver the correct stuff on Monday. Couldn't you just spit? What about wasted journeys, fuel, time etc.

Off to cut the hedge before the birds start to build nests in it - I do it better in a temper!

What a bummer! I would phone and request they send the right stuff this week then collect the wrong stuff next week - their muck up after all.

Great idea Shirley, but they have missed today's dispatch so the next one will be out of their warehouse tomorrow, to the transport company's depot, then to us on Monday. Rubbish when you've got all psyched up!

LOL. I must post a pic of our now unhappy girls in their 'nice safe' run made up from the metal poles remaining from my plastic greenhouse, some weldmesh and orange plastic stuff that is usually found round roadworks.

The plan is to build a nice walk-in one but they were trashing the garden and I needed to get started sorting beds for planting out (it takes me so long i have to start early). Blimey are the girls in a huff coz they can't dig up my onions

Do you let them have sage as well as the onions?
