  • Old yellowlegs is for the chop.........

Tried to offload old yellowlegs (all of 3 month old now) one of the Light Sussex cockerels which I hatched myself, to a fellow allotmenteer.
He was in his new home only 2 hours when he arrived back cos he was such a noisy bugger!
The bloke is half deaf and still his crowing was too much for him!

Looks like chicken for Sunday dinner either this weekend or next then!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

Will you get a bit more than a sandwich out of him then? Mine aren't big enough for eating yet (and I'm not going to either!!), they're about the same size as the ex-batts
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

I reckon he's big enough Auntie Mo!

Apparently the short time he was at his new home he was 'doing the business' with the blokes pullets......thats probably why he crows so much!

Nope he's a big bird for twelve weeks!

        Here's his piccie, taken yesterday!!

Funilly enough, when he was returned from his new 'home to be' he kept his trap shut for 2 or 3 hours as if to say " Don't knock me on the head, I CAN BE QUIET now and again!" then a little banty cock started crowing close by and he just couldn't resist trying to out crow it!

If the birds aren't for showing, and they're just kept as pets, what difference does it make as to what colour their legs are? All my Welsummers have yellow legs though, think that's what they're supposed to have, and the Bluebelles all have black legs
