  • Oh no! Sympathy please!

Oh no! I have just checked my e-mails to find that the person I had bought a chicken house off on ebay has been made redundant so no more chicken houses are being made. I thought something funny was going on as I had to chase it up twice. I had an e-mail at the beginnng of the week saying the house was being posted the next day but that was obviously a lie.

The chickens are ex-batts due to arrive on Friday!

Luckily I have a patched up rabbit hutch and a jigsaw and some old shelves so I am going to have a bash today at putting something together. But I'm gutted. I've got my money back but it's the inconvenience and horror of logging on to find your chickens may be homeless! Boo hoo.

Well I'd better not sit around here on my ass then - better get moving and rev up the jigsaw ....

can you pick up a smallish shed from one of the DIY places and adapt that, they wont care what it looks like as long as its dry and warm...my girls are in an old wooden wendy house that DD had outgrow, OH put some perches in and I use old cat litter trays with lids for nesting boxes and they are perfectly happy.....am sure the rabbit hutch will be a darn site better than what they've come from anyway, dont forget we'll need pics of the girls when you get the,

Ours had a first home which was a recycled cupboard. They are not fussy, so long as it is dry and not draughty. They will even tolerate a bit of squashing for a week or so till you get sorted out.

Coco and Elvis lived in a small shed for a while because they were crowing too much to stay at Lynda's, but our 'bespoke' chicken house wasn't ready. This was a classic allotment shed... say no more! But a layer of shavings and a perch and they were happy.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.
