well, after about three weeks, the two new speckledies have both laid on the same day,two of the smallest eggs i have ever seen from a chicken, both dark brown, one speckled, one plain, both the size of a pigeons egg.the two birds are very different, bitzy, the big one,is bigger than my bluebelle and the bigger blackrock, very lovely white edging to each feather, the other is a lot smaller, withbarely any white edging, they are supposed to be the same age,i think that they just have different parents, they are healthy and well in with the rest of the "mob" so we are trying to decide how to have these first eggs,to go to work on an egg with these two you would only ever work mornings...they are just too pretty to break......

Well done those girls. One of my ex-batts laid a tiny egg last week about the size of a pigeon egg. There was no yoke inside though.
