  • New home desperately wanted for light sussex bantam.

Hi all, I have just seen this urgent appeal on a local freecycle site and unfortunatley i cna't have himas i live in the town. Can anyone hlep this little fella please.
Free to good home. Very handsome, light sussex bantam. Bought him in
Sep 2008 along with 4 others and have now discovered this ones a boy !!
We live in a built up area and are just unable to keep him and
reluctantly need to re-home him. He is very handsome, lovely natured,
easy to handle by us and our children and used to dogs. He really needs
to go asap and we would be happy to deliver locally. Perhaps you
already keep chickens and have a bigger space than we do. We are in
Ashingdon, which is between Rochford and Hockley, not too far from
Southend-on-Sea. We are looking to rehome him in the next couple of
days. If you can help, please phone Jo on 07780 681888. Thank
    you.

I really wish I could - I'd love a light sussex bantie - but my husband would strangle me if I got a cockerel!

Have you tried the Practical Poultry forum? There's a bloke on there who rehomes unwanted chickens of both sexes - he seems to be genuine, just a bit of an eccentric. Best of luck in rehoming your boy!

BTW, where did you get your light sussex, and how old were they? Reputable breeders will usually take birds back if they are the wrong sex, rather than have them abandoned or drafted into cock-fighting Not that I'm saying anyone here would do that, obviously!
