  • New Hens Arriving Tomorrow - Calder Ranger

I have got some new hens arriving tomorrow all being well.

I have chosen the Calder Ranger which look much the same as a Warren.

I will add pictures to the blog (The Eco Life Morland Road Allotments Plot 79) when they arrive.

They are at point of lay now so in 2 - 4 weeks should have yet even more eggs!!!

Whoo-hoo! Great. The ones I'm hoping to get in a month's time are also Rangers. They seem to call them after the farm that breeds them but I'm sure they are the same 'recipe' as the Warren. My farmer calls his Outgate Rangers (Outgate farm!) but they come as day olds from Meadowsweet - who call them Meadowsweet Rangers! They are said to be particularly friendly birds though - which I want so the pre-school grand-daughters will get to handle them.

ive got calder ranger and she is very much like the warrens except for black tail feathers and she;s quite a bit bigger, and totally gorgeous, she's quite tame too so a good choice i'd say
