  • my lovely Chickens

out of all the animals we have, I find chickens the most relaxing to be with Thought I would share some pictures of them. However, I am not particularly enamoured by Bambi, the young light sussex cockerel- he bit my hand today and went for me with his feet- thats what happens if you hand rear cockerels - they seem over confident!

What lovely pictures, I always love looking at others people's pics of their chucks! I have a Magpie (top girl) and she can be a buggar sometimes, nothing like your Bambi by the sounds of it, his name doesn't suit him, have you thought of changing it since he attacked you?

Great pics Petal, thanks for sharing! That Gandalf is a handsome chap!

My sympathies regarding Bambi, my Valentino throws himself at me on occasions - he has no spurs yet, and hasn't mastered his attack technique (yet). So far I've managed to stare him down, and currently he is still a little wary of me - I hope.

Re: changing Bambis name: Yes, to something else beginning with a b. However, I do love my chickens and they give so much compared to some other pets, who are just 'takers' if you know what I mean.

I agree Petal - I find it really rewarding to just sit on my stool with a Hen on each knee. They snuggle down, and close their eyes. Bliss.

Until Valentino throws himself at my back LOL

My cockerel, Trevor, loves me to bits when I'm wearing wellies but flies at my legs if I'm wearing shoes! If they could only talk and tell me why!!

its hilly: Fanny is a friesian fowl, very delicate thing and smart as anything!Yet to come into lay but I believe they lay lots of white eggs, good sized, considering . She is not very big, bantam size really.
