    Moving chooks tomorrow..........

    Had planned to finish new coop and run today and move chooks from greemhouse, where it's getting a tad warm!

    Finished enough to move them but remembered the bloke I got the dilapidated shed from, gratis of course, always has problems with his chooks and it looked remarkably like red mite problems.

    With this in mind I have sprayed the inside of the coop with Armillatox and Zophlora just in case! I'll let it soak in overnight and hopefully move them tomorrow!

    Plan is to try and grab Light Sussex cockerel first (that should be a joy as he's huge and not used to being picked up!) ...........once he's rehoused it should be a doddle to take the rest one by one, without the cockerel trying to protect his laydees, and rehouse them!

    Best of luck with it. A chicken that doesn't want to be grabbed is a job and a half! I hope we'll get some pics?

                How about a corn trail and cardboard box tunnel system Snadger

                G4 I've got a big landing net too, but Scooby and the banty wyandotte roos can outrun me any day. And Scooby can still fly well despite having one wing clipped Wonder if Lynda wants him back? LOL

                  I would go for moving at night too, especially if they are difficult to handle. Catching up birds by day is very stressful for both bird and human alike! We have a big landing net for escapees and emergencies, but generally move birds at night when they are sleepy.

                    If the shed has had red mite problems before Snadger, I would pain the whole shed in creosote substitute first, before moving the chickens.

                    I use a landing net as well They only need to see me touch it and they run in all directions.

                      Shouldn't be too hard to catch as they are inside a grreenhuse at mo. Cokerel is always first to the door for his handful of corn so will just grab him!
                      Gunna take my overalls as I am wearing shorts and don't fancy getting talons and spurs stuck in my bare legs!
                      The red mite is only a possiblity and I've painted the coop white.
                      Too far for a corn trail (about 30 metres).
                      The other problem is that I will be adding a couple or three birds from another run to the flock at the same time......should be fun!

                      Then....I intend getting some serious gardening done!

                          ive got two rhoderocks that cant seem to master gates,they always go behind the open gate and get all excited being stuck behind it when all the others walk off to forage..
