Sixties girl, I'm from the other side of the world.

One of the reasons for me is the cold winters that this forum deals with. In australia everyone seems to be talking about the heat. We do have very hot summers as well, but it's the lack of information about how to make your plants survive in the cold that helps me. And the short growing season - also a match for our area.

Other than that, I like that people tend to make things, whether it's garden beds, features, or plant feeds. I don't plan to spend mega bucks so that I can garden so this is a really great place to pick up tips on making use of things.

And I love the chit chat so I can let off steam when things go wrong, or have a brag when things go well.

          Welcome.

There is always someone who will be happy to help and advise you, you can ask any question and receive an answer. The ' chat threads' are nice to for sharing more personal stuff or just to be silly!

Love the fact no one tires of your constant questions and also love the hints on how to use your home grown produce...especially the chutney recipe!

I'm a taker / consumer all over the internet, so in areas where I [think I !!] know a bit I like to give something back. The social networking part of it, and chatter not related to gardening etc., is not something that I engage in on the forums [although there are sometimes a few exceptions ]

I think the advantage this forum has over others is the friendly people and the non invasive moderators who manage to keep things going but adopt a very low profile. You have access to some very experienced gardeners who are happy to share their life time experiences with anyone.

Ha!...and no sooner than Bill says that...up pops a Mod!

I agree with all the things peeps have said so far....but also speaking as a member and not wearing my Mod hat, what I love about this site from a gardening point of view is that you get several replies fairly soon after posting.
There's usually someone to ask for advice most of the time....including during the night!

On other sites ( shhhh...yup I do have a nosy!).... You often have to wait several days for the same...or less...of a response.

They are a bunch of know-it-alls Seriously, I don't think I've ever asked a question that didn't get an answer, there is such a wide knowledge base amongst the members and not just growing related. They are happy to help, even if the question has been asked a hundred times before (and like me, you are rubbish with the search button)

Above all, it's the friendly atmosphere for me.

PS: What I like about the forum?

That people are always willing to offer help and advice. Plus the spirit of the forum, which is very friendly and good-humoured.

Welcome to the Grapevine, Sixties Girl.

I agree with everything that's been said so far. What I like best is having found a bunch of people who are as obsessive about growing stuff as I am, but who know a lot more about it.
