  • Has anyone

Has anyone fed the ex-bat pellets to their hens? I only saw these while looking to get more ex-bats. I've bought a sack today. More expensive than usual pellets but BHWT get 50p for each sack sold.
Before anyone says it. They are made for, not with ex-bats!

I saw them in the feed-merchant's, but didn't buy any as I don't have ex-batts. They are very slightly higher in protein than the regular Smallholder layer's pellets, 17% instead of 16%, presumably to help with feather regrowth. The protein content is the same as for the grower's pellets, but it does say on the bag that they are for adult birds only.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

I didn't think to check what was in them! (I am a silly cow!) I had seen them advertised and thought they would have more calcium. My e-batts totally ignor the oyster shell and I have to give them extra suppliments.

LOL if my chucks will eat virtually anything that is given to them, then ex-batt meal wouldn't pose a problem for them!. They snaffle up the chick crumbs quicker than the chicks! and that has a higher protein content also. I dont offer extra grit as my chucks free range most of the day and their egg shells are rock hard.
