  • Guess who's followed me home!

Yes folks, Basil the Bluebelle has arrived chez Chuckingham Palace (and annex) this afternoon. I went to see Jude at Cotswold Chickens and would you believe it, Basil jumped into a box, closed the lid and somehow managed to get himself into the boot of my car! Well, I just HAD to bring him home didn't I

Yes, I will post some piccies a bit later when he's settled in a bit. He's only 15 weeks old, so feeling just a little bit frightened of this new place. He's moved in with the babies (who aren't that much smaller than him now!) and I've closed up the coop after chucking the tiddlies out of it for the afternoon. I'll open it up again around 8ish so he can have a quick look outside before bed and before the little ones want to settle in for the night. He's so lovely

Tut, tut. I think half the chickens in Britain must have seen Chicken Run, the japes they're coming up with. I'd like to see a piccie too, you see the girl Bluebelles all the time, but I've never seen a boy.

Well pictures I promised so here they are. He's a lovely boy and seems to be settling in well. There were a few "iffy" moments when I first brought him home, but I shut him in the coop for a while, then he made the acquaintance of the other chicks before they all settled down together for the night. He's eating and drinking ok and just exploring his new home - maybe even eyeing up the laydees in the next run

He looks lovely, Mo. Though he's got that look in his eye that says he's going to be something of a character.

Well Basil seems to have settled in really well. He toddles off to the coop at bedtime with the others, gets up and eats and drinks with them all too. The only "problem" I have at the moment is 2 of the little cockerels trying to work out who's the boss! bit of fighting going on there, so I think it's nearly time to split them up
