    ground shell

    i was wondering if its possible to use ground shell to build up calcium in hens
    ie dry shells and grind them to a powder as i do this for my dogs and mix it through their meal

    Do you mean egg shells, Johnbhoy? Apparently you can, but they have to be completely dried and well crushed otherwise there's a danger your hens could get a taste for them and start eating their own eggs.
    Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

      They need to be baked first too to sterilize them. I save mine up and pop them in the oven when I've finished cooking. I use an old coffee grinder to grind them to a powder and mix it in with some mash or treats
      My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

        yes eggshell sorry and thank you as this is what i meant as i feed this to the dogs completely ground down
