Mine are all dated (in pencil) and stored in one of those large egg trays (holds 30 eggs) on the kitchen worktop. Oldest are used / sold first
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

I don't store eggs.........I either sell em fresh or eat em fresh within a day.
I don't have my own chooks to eat old eggs!

Utility room (colder than kitchen, but not as cold as the fridge). That is bought eggs, but it's what I've always done whether the eggs are bought or 'home grown'.Fridge is only if there isn't anywhere else coldish.

Well our whole cottage is coldish, so I have the pick of the rooms. I don't have much room to have them lying on a work surface though...so might need to buy something more custom made!

              Any excuse!!

I date mine in pencil and put them in a basket - I try to keep a few for a week or so for hardboiling - I gather from the other thread that about 8 days is the charm <g>

I date mine with an egg ink stamp (impressed huh?) but NEVER put them in the fridge. That is for supermarket eggs which are old before you buy them. Mine are in the kitchen in a wire basket (from Wiggly Wigglers) and they will keep fresh for at least two weeks, so we hear, we have never gone that long without either selling or eating them.
By the way Bobbie, welcome to the world of really fresh eggs

Mine are dated in pencil (notice a common bond here peeps) then they go in egg boxes. The oldest half dozen then get put in a ceramic chicken for use in the kitchen - the others are stacked up ready for selling or using in turn. If I put a dozen in the chicken then they just get used randomly so I go for the half dozen at a time approach.

Mine are kept in some '12' egg boxes on the kitchen windowsill... the duck eggs are kept in a '10' egg box....

No dates, but newest at back, oldest at front. We sell a lot at work, so don't usually have more than 12 hanging around on any one day

One of my ex-neighbours was an 'egg farmer' and he said eggs freshly laid will keep easily for 6 weeks in a cold dry place. The ones you get in the supermarkets are already a month old by the time you get them (so he said). I've never kept them that long!! I do have a stash of eggs in a cold back room, dated in pencil, just in case my girls decide to go off lay again in late February (which they did last year).

well so far we've eaten all the eggs...lol...they're sooo yummy!!

I think I'll do the whole 'cool dry place' approach instead of fridge. Oh, and the egg stamp is super cool - where did you get that, smarty pants?
