Default Finally.....we have hens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi,

Our hens arrived yesterday after five years of wanting them but needing to move first, then sort out a henhouse etc.

We have three Isa Browns coming up to POL, from a nearby breeder who breeds breeds at a small rate but loads of Isas that run around in a big barn and sell before laying.

They are named by our daughters, Tallulah, Emerald and Fiona. They seem very happy. Two walked out of the house into the run to investigate straight away, both ate, drank and started scratching around. Fiona took a couple of hours. There's been no squabbling whatsoever. I imagined there would be as they were in with a few before and would still need to get to know each other. Therefore thinking maybe the honeymoon period. Emerald and Tallulah slept on the perch and Fiona slept on the edge of the nest box. They didn't shoot out at all this morning, although food there. They wandered out 20 mins later. They seem very calm, chilled and pleased to meet us. All had a brief cuddle and stoke for 1 minute when introduce into hen house. We gave them space but chat to them on regular visits to say hello. This morning, Emerald had a cuddle on my lap for about 3 mins. She seemed as if she'd been here years. They are so sedate!
They sleep or nod off more than I imagined. The only shows of excitement have been when a bumble bee buzzed by.

Does this sound OK to everybody? We feel like we did when we brought our daughters home from hospital again!!!

Thanks
Beth.

Ps. hope this answers Perch post. thought it would show up quicker if emailed new thread of introduction?!

Hi Beth!!

Great news on getting your girls home and settled. They sound like very happy hens and are lucky to be with you and your family where i'm sure they will get a lot of love.

Good luck

Debs x
