  • Feathering up nicely

Our 6 girls were looking decidedly "oven-ready" a few months ago. But now we are sporting the latest range of new feathers They have been allowed to run free nearly every day, eating worms, bugs and fresh greens. Our dogs are fine with them and leave them alone. So funny though when I go to shut them in - my "little brown dog" sits at the escape route and helps me - bless her little heart And the quality of the eggs have improved too with all this freedom. Happy hens, happy eggs

That's brilliant news. Our Gert was exactly the same - bald except for a few feathery bits on her wings is now the proud wearer of a feather vest just in time for winter.
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison

ok here are some pics of the girls. The big black/chestnut one is very photogenic, the little black one still needs a few more feathers and the profile of the brown one showing how short they cut their beaks over here!!!!!!!
