  • Eggs under broody bantam question

I have a broody bantam and decided to give her some bantam eggs to hatch. I went to Hampton Court Flower Show and the nice man gave me the 2 eggs his huge L/F brahma hens had laid. They are about the same size as bantam eggs. If I set them under my broody with some pekin eggs, will it be ok?

Will they take the same time to hatch - or do bantams tend to hatch a bit earlier?
Should I start the brahma eggs a day earlier?

My bantam eggs hatched later than my maran eggs, though set at the same time. It was cold weather and they were under a hard feathered long legged game bird rather than a plump, fluffy silkie cross so maybe that's why.....I'm not sure you can mix bantam and large fowl eggs, but if they are the same size maybe it would be ok?... I'm sure someone experienced may come up with a definitive answer soon.

It's fine to set large fowl and bantam eggs together, so go ahead and set them all at the same time. They will all hatch around the same time. The only 'problem' I can foresee is the brahmas are obviously bigger birds, and there may come a time when they overshadow their little "siblings", perhaps pushing them away from the food, but you will have to just see how they behave when the time comes.
