  • egg exchange or sale

I know I am quite new to this site so apologies if I am going over ground already trodden. But I was wondering if there was potential to start an egg swap or be able to sell eggs on here. I know the site isn't ebay but I would sooner get eggs from people who have helped me and feel like the sort of people who have a real passion for their chooks. Any thoughts?

Where do you live? I'm happy to do egg exchange or sale but am reluctant to go via the post route as risk of eggs getting shaken about in transit is too great (have had bad results in the past with posted eggs). I'm in North Norfolk.

Mmmm - I'm sure there must be someone else on here near you, or happy to do posting.

Perhaps we should all list our breeds and see what's available?

No sales please folks, and I'll need to check out the exchange idea with Admin if it looks like you want to do it.
Whatever you want to sort out by email etc is up to you, of course

If you could that would be great. I see the allotment section has a seed exchange =)

Not to put a damper on this idea, but there's not that many of us with cockerels so fertile egg swap might be few and far between
My girls found their way into my heart and now they nest there

The problem is, what happens if the eggs don't hatch/get broken/don't show etc etc.

Seed swap works 99% of the time, as they are pretty resilient during transport and usually the first class post suffices....the forum leaders [and being a Mod I know] would not want to try and sort out any issues/squabbles as a result.

The same reason we don't have a general swapping board.

No problems. I just thought it might have been good if some people had some breeds that where a bit different. I know with ebay you have to take your chance I'm quite happy to accept it. I can understand what your saying and there may not even be any take up. Thanks for the reply i'll leave it with you

Another one from Sheffield!!!! I'll have some Rhodies and Copper Marans, but probably not until spring as my girls are still just coming into lay (Marans) or still just growers (Rhodies). I've got my heart set on some Cream Legbars too, but haven't told OH yet. If you fancy swapping at some point, let me know.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Why do you have to be all the way in Yorkshire?...You could have had one of our Legbar cocks & made your very own little breed!

BTW...if anyone local to Suffolk fancies homing a rather gorgeous, incredibly friendly little Legbar boy,we have two that we haven't yet got homes for....and they're far too friendly to eat!
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.xx

Dunno about egg's, but I got these 2 chicks which I presumed one was male and one being female, but hubby tells me they were both trying to crow this morning @ 8 weeks old too!!

                            Is that normal?

BTW they are Lavender Pekins (praying one is a female)
