We've got Turd (named by my 15 year old son, aren't boys lovely! When in polite company we call her Thug as she is definate boss hen), Rodney (named by son's mate who is a little slow on the uptake - yes we did explain she was a girl!), Free Range (escaped the 2nd day we had them and spend 3 days 'free ranging' between our garden and next doors before we could get her penned up again) and Black Hen (they actually all look very alike but she does have a slightly darker head).

Layers mash and layers meal are usually just different names for the same thing. Meal can be combined with cooked veg to make a 'wet mash', which some hens like. If you use just-coked veg it makes a warm mash which can be good in cold weather, in fact you can simply damp the mash with hot water if there is nothing else to add.
Outside of these options, pellets tend to be better....
