  • ASBO Chix or Cowardy Custards?

My 3 10 week old Orpington bantams have today been terrorised by the 6 week old Wyandottes and Sussex chicks! The Orps have been in residence in the run for a couple of weeks now so today I let the chicks in there under my supervision. First out was a Wyandotte who took one look at the Orps (twice his size) and flew at them screaming like a banshee! They retreated at top speed to the top of the ark and when they ventured down took refuge in the coop! Bless!

LOL Sue, I've heard Orps are big cowards!

Hoping maybe it'll stop them crowing for a while!

Well this morning they got chased back into the coop! So the 2 boys sat on the perch crowing - na na nana na we can sit on the perch and you can't and we don't want to be out there anyway so there! The Wyandottes really are little thugs tho!

            Bless them.
We were a little worried last year when we introduced Boo and Roo to the flock...Boo seemed to sense that Dandelion was Top Chook and the one not to mess with.....therefore went straight for her and won the battle

Our Orpingtons seem to have not read the books that dictate they're wusses...they're definately in charge of our lot...even now there's only the one of them while the other's being Mummy.

Hope your lot get themselves sorted soon....I've just remembered, although the two Girls are in charge, the Orpie Boy used to get given a hard time of it....he'd sneak up on the girls, attempt 'it' and then get chased around the run by non too amused hens....and if he dared to eat before the Girls they'd put him straight back in his place
