Default anywhere in south scotland i can buy hens?

Hi

Just looking now to purchase my hens , ive been advised (on vines) to go for bantam and would ideally like 3 or 4 but would really like somewhere as close as possible so i can collect and also so girls dont have to travel to much.

Anyone know of where i can find a breeder in south west scotland, would go to edinburgh if needs be.

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Jessica

there is a site (about chicken, duck keeping) that has some links to breeders in different areas, I cant remember how I came across it, but think I searched chicken keeping. I'll have a look to see if I can find it again

here is the site I saw, not breeders for every area, but some around glasgow http://www.poultry.allotment.org.uk/...friesshire.php

Find a copy of Practical Poultry or Smallholding magazines - they have lots of classifieds in the back. I'm sure you'll find something there

What sort of bantams are you thinking of? I'd recommend wyandotte, sussex or Plymouth Rock, they all lay a good sized egg for their size and they are nice placid birds too.

My geography isn't very good, but is there anything here Poultry / Accessories For Sale and Wanted in Scotland on Poultry Ads UK that's near you and have what you're looking for?

hi jessabelle, there are two breeders that we use in ayrshire, one is mcintyres, not far from ayr and the other one is gibbs of galston, had birds from both, last year we had 2x isa browns and 2x blackrock(they lay massive eggs) and2x bluebelles, very docile,we recently got two rhoderocks from gibbs and they are strong, healthy birds,if you send private msg to my site i will dig out the phone numbers, they are very different characters and they become addictive...lovely...

Thanks Buffs, i went to gibbs today and ordered 3 sussex star going to collect them in 2 weeks, they couldn't have been more helpful and its only 20 mins in car so not too much travelling for them.

Thanks again
