  • wind affected onions

My winter onions were bulbing up nicely, till we had the wind last weekend and the leaves were bent over. My question is will they still grow or is that it as far as growing is concerned. I have read somewere when onions are ready you bend them over before lifting.Any sugestions please. Regards Mick.

Bending over the necks is one of the old-time myths which is not now recommended as it can encourage neck rot. My onions have suffered in the wind but I'm leaving them alone and expect they will pick up grow on. They are nowhere near ready to harvest except as large spring onions.
