  • What is it?

    Hello,

I have added a picture of a plant to the album in my user CP, can anyone tell me what it is please? I dug it out last summer as it was taking over the bed and was covered in black splodges but now there are little babies sprouting up again.

    Many thanks.

      Hi,

If it looks a bit like this Pentaglottis sempervirens - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It is a member of the Borage family

Looks like the borage that was growing all over my allotment. If it has little spots like drops of spilt paint on the leaves, then that is it. (There are a few other plants with similar sorts of leaves.) Don't know if they are as good, I suspect not, but I've heard that you can harvest the leaves and use them as you would comfrey.
There's no point reading history if you don't use the lessons it teaches.

You can also cook with borage (if you are confident enough that it IS borage).

many thanks guys, going by the pictures it certainly seems to look like Borage. I'll pot up the little babies that are sprouting up & plant them beside the compost heaps (when i finally get around to moving them to where i want them!)
