any help would be appreciated, these are fast growing and i have not seen any flowers on them, although i did only move in in August.

I'm with you Fiona - my money is on a Hebe too. You can check HERE The only other thing I thought it might be is a Californian lilac (ceanothus) Not such a good picture but it might give you something to go on.A garden is a lovesome thing, God wot! (Thomas Edward Brown)

it looks like one of the many types of hebe! I was unsure how to prune it as i didnt know what it was

Yup, the first one is definately a hebe and I still think the other one is a ceanothus, but it could be one of many variations. Are the white flowers part of the plant or just accidental?

i trim mine in spring just to keep its shape but often they respond to hard pruning if they get out of hand. never had much problem diiging and moving hebes. very easy to take cuttings fromabove the clouds the sun is shining and the sky is blue. if you look hard enough you can just about see it!Comment

Would agree with ceanothus and hebe. Google Ceanothus repens - the low spreading type as it looks like it could be that.Comment

thank you everyone, i now can look after them! When we moved in the hebe was covering most of the path so we hacked it right back and it is now almost back to where it was! it grows so quickly.
the white flowers are part of the other one, looking at the leaves it does look like a ceanoths, thank you all so much, i really appreciate it.
