  • What should i begin with?

I now have a raised bed (3.5m x 1m x 12"). Filled with topsoil, manure and multi purpose. Haven't managed to plant anything in it as been too busy so now need advice on what to plant! Complete novice.

Nice and easy to start with would be good and also plants that will give a reasonable return this year. I particularly like the idea of carrots, spring onions, little gem lettuce, potatoes, broccoli, runner beans and also raspberrys.

Which of the above could i fit into the plot i have and what spacing would be needed?

    Thanks

Ps - I understand i will now need to buy plug plants, is this correct?

You can sow lettuce, spring onion and radishes etc from seed, also prob not too late for runner beans. If you get some seeds and get them sown you can work out spacings from the pkts. You could then see what space you have for plug plants.

Personally I love spinach beet. It grows fast and is great in salads or cooked. Depending on how many your feeding you would need to plant quite a lot, it cooks down to nothing! I have 20 plants for a family of four
