  • What to do with sprigs of mint?

Some kind soul has sent me through the post about seven sprigs of mint (with roots). I intend putting them in water for a couple of days and then planting in pots before putting somewhere permanent.
One of the plants is like a twig but there are roots growing in several parts. My question is can I cut the twig and then plant the parts with roots? Or would I be doing it wrong? Is this sounds a silly question it's because I have a new allotment and i don't really know what I'm doing yet!

Put all the roots in soil and leave the tops sticking out. Most mint is dormant at this time of year - just starting to sprout anew. Once your mint has started to produce new leaves you can trim off any dead bits.

One piece of advice just in case you don't know.

Do not plant the mint in the ground. Put it in some form of container otherwise it will take over your garden.

And in summer make mint wine. It's delicious!
