Your seed packets should have a "sow indoors"/"sow outdoors" date on the back. I put all mine into a spreadsheet so I can see what needs sowing, planting out or harvesting each month.

when it says sow indoors /sow outdoors does the indoors bit mean in a heated greenhouse or unheated greenhouse

or in the house and kept warm

Like you I have an unheated greenhouse and windowsills. I organise my seed packets by the earliest sowing month and the germination temperature guide on the packet indicates where they should be placed for good germination. Anything above 15C is for the windowsill.

At the moment I have leeks and peas in the greenhouse. No sign of the leeks yet, but the peas are starting to show.

Indoors on the windowsill, I have sown basil, parsley, celeriac and aubergine.

Next month is when it really gets going, can't wait.

I really have got the bug. Today I added to the propagator some corriander and mini cucumbers. My glazed shed should be warm enough, with the help of a heater in a few weeks time, to transfer my goodies to. Yippee!!

                      Leeks - hardy
                      Cabbage - hardy
                      Cauli - hardy
Mangetout - might need a fleece
Onions - hardy but might want to fleece if you are really worried [only to prevent bolting mind, not for any other reason]

Can you pop your mangetout and onions [if you are really worried] in the middle of the greenhouse/bring them indoors/fleece them/pop an old lightweight sheet over them [with something to keep the sheet from squashing them]?

No problem; I'm shifting my seedlings about later by torchlight - getting them onto the bench and off the shelves....but not till I've listed all my stuff on ebay, finished my coffee and sown another tray [this time for Mr Z, wildflowers for his borders].
