    What do I do with my butt? :)

    Morning all, Ive just collected a water butt from someone on freecycle, and im confused by the pipes etc and lid?
    Can anyone let me know what to do? lol
    Husband says Im turning into Swampy with all the manure and water butts etc lol!
    please advise! xx

    One hole/pipe is to put water in from wherever you are collecting it. The other is an overflow pipe in case you get too much water - either point it at a drain or connect it to a second water one. The tap at the bottom is to get water out you want

      Chellybobs, what you have there is a model 240 upsided round barrel, with reverse flow piping.
      Nah, just kidding !
      The pipe at the top is to go into another barrel when that one is overflowing; or it may have originally been attached to a gutter downpipe, to feed water into the butt. (Probably more likely.) If you look in B & Q and garden centres, you will see there are kits to do these things, that will help you see how things are set up. You may want to "pour" over them at leisure !
      The tap at the bottom....is a tap. In order to use it effectively you need to set the butt up on a stand. You can buy a posh plastic one for way too much money, or set a sheet of (strong) plywood on four breeze blocks and use that. If you have small kids, obviously you want to make sure this is as stable as possible, a water filled butt is very heavy.
      You have a very nice butt, I am very envious !

        Hey Ive been to B&Q and the connector set for the drainpipe is reduced from £12 for a white 3 metre to ----- £3!!!!!! Get in!
        Been in, bought it, fitted it! 2 productive days lol!
