| Do you rely on what the soil or compost looks or feels like to decide when to water or do you have a regular regime? Likewise with feeding plants, how do you remember what to feed and when? Do you write it down or do they all get the same thing at the same time? |

| i bet there are as many answers as there are gardeners.....i always forget what i have done...often forget to record what i've done as well.....and have never managed a regular routine. I water if it hasn't rained! |

| Problem is that some plants like loads of water and some like to keep their feet dry. Some like to keep their leaves dry but need lots of water at the roots. Although relatively new to growing veg, I've been growing flowers for many years and it always amazes me how little water many plants require. There are no 'hard and fast rules'. A plant that will quite happily survive in the shade for weeks with little water will quickly keel over if left in the sun, but a good way to kill a plant is to overwater it. There's no one fix for all growing plants. Treat each plant as an individual as they all have different requirements. Then there's feeding ... |
