  • Which Varmint ate my potato?

This morning I had lovely green potato shoots. Went out this evening to earth up and one of them was just a stick!! No leaves left nothing.

My guess is a bl@@dy pigeon, do slugs go for potato leaves?
    What do you guys reckon?

Oh, Fiona, you poor thing. What a nasty shock If you do find out, please let us all know. I expect there are plenty of Viners following the story.

Poor you, potatoes are deadly nightshade so I would think slugs too, I'm trying chook grit around a lettuce bed/herb bed I made today hoping it works, have sown lollo and red salad bowl in pots just in case (slugs avoid for some reason)

Went out with organic pellets earlier, there were loads of snails when we moved the shed at the weekend, maybe it was them grrrrrrrr.

I have slug protection for everything else just didnt think of doing it for the spuds. I am hoping they only got the one plant, wonder if it will grow back? Any ideas?

Never crossed my mind that slugs would eat spuds, better get outside and protect mine.
