| Isn't it a fabulous feeling? I have to say I often can't even wait long enough to cook things, just eat them raw standing next to the plant ![]()

| Thanks! he he! I have actually tasted a mange tout pod and also a lettuce leaf, even though it was just a baby and not ready yet. It is a brilliant feeling, especially as this is my first year and I have been convinced numerous times that nothing will mature. This forum has been great for posting my worries and reading everyone else's stories.

| Mizuna, Rocket and Red & Green Mixed salad leaves are almost big enough to make a good sized salad, so I'll probably harvest a few of those next.

| Yep, the new season has started: I brought home a carrier bag full of mixed veg today for dinner (chard, beetroot, radish, lettuce, broad beans, onions and ONE POTATO )

| I brought home a nice harvest bag for ourselves this week (as well as a cabbage or 2 and an onion each for 3 aunts!!): Cabbage, brocolli leaves (for spring greens), last few brocolli sprouts, few sprig rosemary, 2 japanese onions and 2 rogue red onions (from last year, grew again in winter cabbage patch), 3 heads lettuce and a nice handful each of peas and broad beans. Oh joys!! Summer has begun!! (And even managed to get a large handful of mangetout from the garden as well - so a lovely veg mix of our own onion, peas, beans and MT with shop bought asparagus on Sunday!!). There really is nothing like the early early harvests to gladden the heart!! |

| Dined last night on 5 new potatoes, 9 mange - tout (well, OH snaffled the mange-tout) and 1 cauliflower. The cauliflower was particularly delicious as I've never grown one before (thinking them difficult). Cue me, this weekend dancing round the allotment singing "I've grown a cauliflower, I've grown a cauliflower" followed by teenage son flouncing off muttering "oh my god mum, your're sooooo embarrassing" Isn't that my job ![]() |

| being a teenager myself, I'm rather glad that I'm the one who's really into GYO, and not my parents and we haven't got a lottie yet, because it would be yet another place for my parents to embarass me in!!! LOL. Congrats on your harvest. So far, I've had lettuce leaves - this being my first proper year of growing lots of veg - past years I've spent doing lots of dappling!! Jennifer

| Well done you I pulled my carrots that where grown in the greenhouse and they were scrummy. Perfectly formed and straight which i was surprized at. Grew enough for 2 meals, was just an experiment as have never been successful before and am now going to get another lot going. Gives your heart a warm glow when you can serve up your own veg for the family doesn't it ahhhh roll on the cucumbers and the melons cant wait to tast them |
