  • Sweet corn help please

On Saturday I soaked my corn seed. It ended up being one of those weekends when nothing gets done that you planed
Anyway could plant in my cells, so drained the seed and added damp soil to the cup. I am about to plant them now and they are rooting.
I am assuming that I plant with the root going down, I just want to check with you guys.

    Thanks in advance

I always do them root downwards, although they will straighten themselves out apparently.

Must be nice to be somewhere a bit warmer! I won't be sowing mine for at least another month yet, I've got nowhere cosy enough to keep them once they get going.

Yup, the first thing out of the Sweetcorn seed is the root, so pointing that downwards, or sideways, when you pot them up will be fine. I don't trouble to sort the odd one or two out if they fall into a planting hole the wrong way up in case I damage it whilst fiddling and prodding it to get it to turn around!!
