Successes and Failures

Successes (without trying to tempt fate)
Tomatoes, chillies, lettuce, mange tout, spinach, courgettes, cucumbers (finally), the grass in the back garden!, sprouts, garlic, carrots.

Failures
Broccoli (although 5 are growing good now), cucumbers (out of about 20 only one survived!), melons (all dead), some french runners withered, about 5 tomatoes when I transplanted them

Success
Aubergines, toms, melons, sweetcorn, spring onions, radishes, carrots, beetroot, kohlarabi, cauliflower, french beans, peas, broad beans, mangetout.

Failures

Definitely cucumbers. First lot sowed to early but germinated and had to give them away. Second sowing didn't germinate at all! Bought 6 plants and lost 5!!

Failures
Attempt at growing Aubergines (second try) outside - this time under polythene, still not warm enough for them though, so out they came this week! Repotted three admittedly to see if they pick up a bit inside the greenhouse like the rest of em. Could still be a pending failure for the greenhouse ones!
Cucumbers - dear gods the cucumbers *wrings hands at becoming Death of Cucumbers*. These did not go well.
Strawberries from seed - only managed four out of around 15 planted.
Some radishes that were left too long before cropping (and others didn't like the low light from when I dropped the seeds in their open packet amongst the onions ).
Squashes - not nearly as healthy as they should be when they went out - next time they will be in the greenhouse on the floor and potted up to much larger pots I think to stop them becoming low in nutrients.
Germinating all but one of the beans successfully.
Planting sweetcorn and broccoli raab direct into the raised beds - don't think I'll be seeing the seedlings off these!

Successes
Crops so far from seed for radishes, lettuces, coriander, dill, parsley, mint, basil, and pending peas/snap peas (if the flowers pollinate and the pods form ok that is! ).
Crops also from a few of the strawberry runners.
Managing to transplant some rather close spaced basil seedlings and the lettuce thinnings to the raised bed where they got big and tasty.
Rest is all pending and subject to multiple disasters!

Its been a lot of work so far so really hoping for a harvest. I forgot to mention that I have (had) 5 broccoli plants that I have under a high boxed net but the pigeons or crows or slugs are still managing to strip the leaves. And dwarf french beans that are being munched daily despite organic pellets !!!! It makes me admire all those growers who have coped with this for years - what does not kill you makes you stronger!

Successes:
Beetroot, Garlic, Leeks, Overwintered Broadbeans, Early Carrots, Summer Cauliflowers, Shallots, Overwintered Onions, Charlotte potatoes, Nasturtians (some sacrifice plants - the slugs haven't touched them!)

Not bad, but could have been better:
Runnerbeans, Red Cabbage, Maincrop potatoes (slugs!), Early Peas, Sunflowers

Failures:
Sweetpeas, Spinach, Summer Cabbage,

Nervous about:
Toms & Lettuces

Good:toms(so far healthy plants but no flowers yet),brussel sprouts,cabbages,dill,garlic,peas,runner beans,dwarf french beans,potatoes
Bad:french climbing beans(disastrous germination)
So-so:beetroot(doesn't want to grow),carrots and onions(not too many),parsley(slow)
Don't know yet:cukes,butternut squash,pumpkin

Successes
Potatoes, onions, strawberries, parsley
Really chuffed with my geraniums (100% germination) and petunias - not fruit and veg but just had to brag

Failures
Sunflowers & foxgloves failed to germinate, beetroot - bolting and rhubarb dying.

Didn't bother with runner beans this year as the slugs ate the lot last year.

Failures - all but 1 runner bean slugged, all but 1 brassica slugged. French beans eaten by something before germination, carrots, only about 4 germinated in compost trenches in the soil, beetroot again poor germination (my fault this time they couldn't get through the hard surface layer of the soil) ,some potatoes slugged, only 1 spinach seed has germinated indoors or outdoors, killed sweetcorn so bought some seedlings but have yet to plant them out and I keep killing cucumbers

I've now bought the organic slug pellets otherwise I'd have got nothing

Successes - pea's no flowers yet but growing well, far too many tomatoes growing, spring onions & leeks doing well (ate the first spring onions from the garden yesterday ), parsnips about half germinated so happy with that, the un slugged potatoes seem to be doing ok, shallots onions & garlic seem to be growing well, re-sowing of runners and french beans are germinting well.

Uncertain about - have got healthy plants of squash's & courgettes to go into two raised beds but haven't got the beds ready (1 of them not even started yet!) and the plants are getting huge and really need to be planted or repotted so really have to get busy this weekend! alpine strawberries seem happy but only had a couple of fruit so far (again slugs). Haven't gotten round to repotting some more tomatoes in the conservatory so they are now terribly leggy and need repotting and hardening off

mistakes - far to numerous to mention but as my first year that's to be expected

Successes (So Far): -
Potatoes, Strawberrys- except two plants that died, Onions, Rocket and Mizuna which is ready, Calabrese, Turnips, leeks, carrots, Coriander and Chives(not alot though)

Failures:-
Courgettes (Too leggy), Spring onions in a seperate pot, garlic, chilli plants all died.

Sowed some more Courgette seeds so will have to see how these go.

Good (at the mo)
Rocket, Sweetcorn, toms (various), garlic (well the top bit is looking good), Onion (ditto), Gooseberries, Blackcurrent (well all 6 of them !!!), herbs (various), cucumber (Marketmore), Courgette, runner beans (red rum), Chilli (Tokyo Hot and Starburst)

Bad
All peas (why can't I grow peas ?????)
