strawbs in g/house?

    strawbs in g/house?

    got my Cambridge runners courtesy of GYO offer. I always have a problem with the fruit getting nicked by our resident moorhens (they even come to our backdoor now, leaving their 'orrible black staining poop on the patio ).
    I'd love to do the strawberries in the g/house but have had mixed opinions from a few gardening friends I have asked so far. Too hot for them?

    What do you all reckon?

    I CAN plant them in the front garden but am a tad worried that I'll get a bit lazy watering.....

    i grew some in the GH last year and TBH they were rubbish. the outdoor ones fared far better. can you not either put them in pots and have them higher up or else net them so the moorhens dont get to them?

      I think they need to be exposed to a period of frosts and cold weather outdoors to perform well at a later date.

        They would do better outside. Do well in semi-shade. I use upturned wire hanging baskets to protect plants from cats - might work with Moorhens.

          Would they not be prone to less watering in the greenhouse?
