Just want to confirm my plan is ok.

I'm planning on buying 9 strawberry plants from my local shop.

I have set aside a 1x2metre for my strawberries.

My boss is going to bring me back straw used as bedding for her chickens.

Can I use this as straw as it will have a bit of chicken poo on it? My theory is that it will be washed into the soil 'when' it rains.

You don't need straw for strawberries Stu, just plant them in the ground. Straw is used when the plants are fruiting to keep the berries from getting mud-splashed.

As above, the only reason you use straw is to keep the fruits off the mud

Fair enough. I'll just get them in the ground
