    Squeeeee!

    I'm so excited. Pity my DH does not share my joy. We ate our first strawberry today (divided between 3 of us, and - sob - our daughter spat hers out after giving it a good chomp, as toddlers do), and we have our first tomato flower, another strawb going red, two mini cukes and some minute runner beans!

    Do I need to net the runners? Can't wait to eat them. How long will it be between having little beans (about 1 cm long now) and having edible-sized ones?

    last year it was only about 2 to 3 days till my runners were pickable. unless you have loads of pidgeons i wouldnt bother with net. if just found 2 mange tout peas on my mange tout plants. hope you enjoy your beans.

      Wow, that's brilliant. They seem to be growing at a rate of about 1 cm a day, so I might have a bit of a wait. Hurrumph.

        There's nothing quite like your first homegrown strawberry. Sadly the shop-bought rubbish will never be good enough again.
        Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

          Try her on peas-in-the-pod.

            Oooh, I wanted to grow peas. I used to love them but seriously went off them (have only ever had frozen).

            Just have to find the space...

              I've got the ones that stay in a pot... erm.... half pint. Just sown them. We'll wait and see what happens!
