  • sprouted walnut?

I was weeding front border yesterday, between showers, and found what appears to be a walnut sprouting 6 inches of leaves.
I can only think it is a christmas nut that one of the children planted. Will it be worth my while growing this on? I do not want a huge tree growing in my little veg plot or garden. thanks for many advice

    Snap KayJay.
Over the last 3 months I've come across 3 of these that I have now potted up and all seem to be doing well.
I'm not sure if they will bear fruit but I'm going to give it a go!

Wow, I would never have thought of planting anything like that - do both let us know how they do? Sorry, curious mind at work!

If you do not want a large tree be prepared to prune it after about seven years or so they do grow rather quickly i have one my father in law grew from a walnut 25 years ago it has not fruited yet probably pruned to much
