  • Small white spots all veg leaves

This is my first season growing veg and just today I have noticed that all the leaves are covered in tiny white spots. Lettuce leaves, spinach, kale, peas, radish are all affected. It seems to be the topside on the more mature leaves as the new leaves look fine. Does anything think this maybe environmental rather than disease? All plants were OK two days ago. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated. Hopefully photos attached.
    Thank you.

What are the plants in your pictures, and where are you growing them.

Hi, the plants are spinach and lettuce leaf and they are all growing in raised beds in a relatively well sheltered, north facing garden.

Does it rub off, or has the colour gone from the leaves? Looks like some sort of deposit to me. I live near a quarry and when they have blasted there is often fine dust in the air that settles onto damp leaves (and cars! )

        Endless wonder.

No, it doesn't rub or scratch off, but the the light areas look thinner when held up to the light, but not perforated.

Could it be flea beetle? Are there little black jumping beetles if you brush your hand through them? Unsightly rather than serious attack if so.

Probably sun scorch from droplets of water being on the leaves when the sun hits them. Possibly dew if they get sun first thing?

Cross-posted with Wendy there, but I agree that's a possibility, hadn't thought of a pest

Thank you all for your advice, there is no evidence of any insects when I brush my hand through, so maybe sun scorch is the answer. I will keep a close eye on things over the next few days a see what happens. I did think it odd that all my veggies where affected, so maybe the two good days of sun we have had was the cause. Thanks again. :-)
