  • Seedlings problems

    Hi,
I have my sprout, cabbage, cauliflower starting off either on my front room window sill and also started some off in a propagator. Once they have started to appear in the propagator I take them out.
My problem is it doesn't matter which way I try to grow them they just die. The ones from the propagator seem to still go leggy and then die. No other seeds do this just them.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks

They may well be too warm, brassicas are pretty hardy and mine are all out in an unheated greenhouse. That said, can you let us know how they die, do they shrivel, keel over / droop or what?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Some droop and some shrivel up. I have made sure they are all watered from the bottom. Might be a case then if they are too warm that I put them up in the bathroom.

Do you have anywhere that isn't heated? They'd be fine in a cold frame etc.

No cold frame I'm afraid they should be ok in the bathroom. The heating isn't on in there. I was being tight and turned the radiator off.

I always plant my brassica seeds outdoors, covered with mesh so as not to give the pigeons a treat. I never have problems outdoors. Indoors or in the greenhouse they invariably die on me.

Bathrooms tend to have quite high fluctuations in temperature and can be pretty humid so not really the best option unfortunately.

You could try a reset, and soon as they show put them out.
