  • Seed sowing & my holiday dates...

I'm away on holiday 12-26 March. I am of course delighted but concerned about what may happen to my seedlings

My neighbours and family can be wholly trusted with my dogs and cats but they are ... how to put this...plant murderers. They will forget to water them or they'll drown them.

Do you advise sowing a few things and risking death by neglect or wait to sow seed until 27th March and let everything catch up?

    Wait until you get back.
There's no rush ... later sowings tend to be just as good as early ones, if not even stronger (more light, more heat)

I agree with Two Sheds - wait until you get back.

If you really want to sow something, though, why not do a tray of spring onions just before you leave? Cover with a propagator lid to keep the moisture in, put them somewhere not too warm and tell your pet-sitters not to water or touch them. They might just be germinating by the time you get back - something exciting to come home to
