  • rotavator woes

    Dear All
Last year I hired a rotavator for the day which cost me around £50.00. I find I am needing one this year and the price has soared to £100.00 which I think is too much. I live just outside Lincoln can any one help.
    Kind regards

    Simon

Do you mean a big beefy self propelled one? or a "Merry Tiller" type which just powers the tines?

For the latter HSS are closer to £ 50 for the weekend (and have a shop in Lincoln)

We hired from HSS - had one for the week at £45 - got another £5 off with a discount code (googled). It was a fantastic machine too

No, you would need a self-propelled one for that, and even then it would be like fighting with a Gorilla

Dunno how big the space is, but a mini-tractor with a PTO-driven rotavator on the rear arms would be best for "virgin ground". I had a fight with a self propelled rotavator last year (from HSS as it happens), decided it was too much of a fight and decided to bite the bullet and hire mini-Tractor + PTO-rotavator ... only to find it was the same price as the self-propelled rotavator (from a local small plant hire company, rather than HSS) ... I had assumed it would be a lot more expensive ... so I wound up paying twice
