  • Root veg and sun

ok before anyone asks yes I have searched and googled

Do root veg such as turnips swedes and parsnips need a lot of sun? Reason Im asking is I am filling raised bed, (partial shade in summer nack all sun in winter) If it is ok to grow roots in these conditions then I dont want to be adding two bags of horse sh*te

if roots need more sunlight i will add horse muck and grow salads there

    Any advice welcomed
    Cheers
    Fi

i thought that manure is bad for roots,as it makes them fork, instead of 1 tap root, you get loads,

Very true. Manure always causes the roots to fork. Ask Esther Ransen. She made a career out of showing deformed carrots on 'That's Life' years ago. Unless, of course, you know different!
