  • Relative novice - identification needed

Here goes for my first post, apologies if this is in the wrong thread!

I have just moved into a new rented property and thought i would try tackling the garden as the landlord refuses to, i have done some in the past with family but wondered if someone could assist with identifying two below that i'm not sure what to do with.

I have come across these 2 plants, the first a trailing plant, seems to be taking over the bottom of the garden and i don't know whether it is a vegetable as their are other veg in the area from previous residents or something aggressive that i should pull out immediately before it kills off the other plants.

The other plant i believe may be cucumber? as it looks similar to one i have seen grown before.

Appreciate people sparing their time to help me!

The second one is bindweed. I'm not sure about the first one.

The first looks to me like bryony (weed) and as Martin says, the second is bindweed, or convulvulus - the white trumpet shaped flower you see in hedgerows about July time.
      Location - Leicestershire - Chisit-land
      Endless wonder.

These flowers look so attractive in close up but they're real pests in the garden

Yes, the first does look quite a lot like bryony: https://www.rhs.org.uk/Advice/Profile?PID=783

VS's hedge bindweed link describes a different plant from the one we both know as hedge bindweed.

              Try this one: https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?PID=241
