    Hi

I am putting raised beds on my allotment!

What width should I leave the paths please?

    Thank you

As big as you need Sue.

Make sure you can get your wheelbarow down, I made my paths to narrow and it was murder.

Just remember, plants get big(and my plants used to overhang onto the paths(well in my case anyway), and you need to get watering can/barrow down the paths....

You need to be able to get a wheelbarrow/trolley/whatever you use down them, but also, be able to kneel comfortably in them, without being crushed by the raised bed behind you/sticking your feet into your planting etc

Yeah I was thinking about a wheelbarrow and baby's pushchair! Hubby reacons 2.5ft, does that sound about right?

Should I make all the paths the same? Or just one path down the middle big enough for the wheelbarrow and pushchair?

            Thank you

I'm a big lad so I usually allow at least 3ft, whatever's most comfy for you, I'd suggest not fixing them down the first year in case you decide to move 'em after having used them for 1 season

What I did was to kneel down and measure the distance between my knee and sole, The wheelbarrow clears the height of the bed so that wasn't an issue, I don't have a pushchair so you may wish to measure the width of it.
