  • Nobby green help!

Help! I've returned from holiday to find my Brussels sprouts a lot worse for wear they are half eaten and covered in sticky black/grey aphids. Any ideas what I can do to bring them back to their former glory? Can I even save them?!

I haven't a clue what the title means HL but spray your sprouts with some soapy water.

I'd go with BM suggestion and spray with something like a bit of Ecover in a spray bottle mostly because the soap makes squishing the bugs easier.

Another one here who's not heard of Nobby greens either but I do like how we all have local names for things.
          Location....East Midlands.

It never occurred to me that nobby greens was a local thing! Sorry for the confusion there!

Will soapy water get rid of them? There are way too many to remove by hand.

Like BM and Potty never heard of nobby greens, just plain old sprouts here. You will have to wipe them off as well as spray.

                  Description makes sense though
Never test the depth of the water with both feet

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....

Shouldn't it be "Knobby" or "Knobbly"

As for you Potty, there are lots of things about you I don't understand

We always refer to them as "fun size cabbages" cos the kids wouldn't eat sprouts but were happy with fun sized anything
