It was only last week that I realised the 'weeds' popping up where last year's parsnips grew were in fact parsnips that had taken a very long time to germinate. I think they'e a law unto themselves!
          Today's mistake is tomorrow's compost...

did you sow it straight outdoors or in modules/paper tubes first?

How long did yours take, Linda? Mine only went into the loo roll tubes about a week and a half ago, so I'm not expecting anything for a while yet - but it would be nice to have some kind of ballpark figure. I'm also worried about whether the compost is too dry, but otoh the ones I tried to 'chit' in the airing cupboard went mouldy

I don't normally get this stressed about seeds, but this year is my first attempt at parsnips and they have a reputation for being tricky blighters!

I did a mixture of loo rolls and kitchen towel. The ones in loo rolls went in on the 25/2 and were just showing 14/3. I planted pre germinated seeds form kitchen roll outside on the 18/3 and only have one seedling sowing at the moment. So they do take a fair while

i was begining to think they were never gonna show, planted them in loo rolls but didnt chit them first.

this morning i've planted cucumber which i did chit on kitchen paper.

Thanks - I shan't expect them for at least a couple of weeks, then!
