  • Morrisons' Flower Buckets

I love Morrisons and I love whoever suggested getting the flower buckets from there.

I was in Canterbubbly today (I go there regularly for hospital appointments, as if we don't have a perfectly good one here in Ashford), and had been planning to go there since hearing about the flower buckets.

So I went in as my treat for getting stuck with a needle...and there weren't any there! I gathered my courage and asked a lady putting out some plants and she said she had some out back and that they mark them as 8 for 99p, but usually give 16 for 99p. So I asked for two lots (I have a Loooooot of chilli plants, plus my tomatoes and peppers)..and she found she didn't have enough for two lots, so I got (only!) 6 small ones and 12 (!) big ones for 99p! She made my day!

Got some nice ham there too...

And I came home to find I'd got two envelopes of seeds, so I can grow my watercress, brocolli and some chamomile! Yippee.

does that mean that if you pick up 2 lots of 8 they'll let you have them for 99p at checkout?

I think they'd have to have taped them up that way - so if you're lucky and they're generous, then you're lucky. I was very lucky - I've discovered that I actually got NINE 5L pots.

Good for you! Make the most of them, I desperately need more to pot some things on but for the past few weeks every time I stop by my local branch they haven't had any

I went to my local Morrisons tonight after trying for weeks to catch my ASDA when they were redoing the flowers.

Morrisons must have had about 200, some taped up, many loose. I got 3 lots for starters, may need some more if all my tomatos do well!

I got some from our local one - it is a brilliant bargain.

            I must get more!

I got 16 on sunday, paid 99p per 8 though.. My drill has made short work of the bottoms so drainage shouldn't be a problem, and i've potted up my 6 tomato plants, 2 sycamores and my new acer in them today

Bah, I need to FIND my drill. My daughter is enjoying pouring water into (and out of and into and out of) them though - she's only 22 months, so I thought I'd get her into the gardening young. ;op

32 for 99p! Bargain! I need more already - I have about 40 odd chilli plants alone, plus peppers, tomatoes and now I want to grow some tendergreen beans...fortunately, I'm in Canterbury fairly often anyway.

                    Asda Flower Buckets...

                    ... just got 60 for...

                    ... NOTHING!

                    WOOHOOOOOO!

I asked one member of staff as I went in and she said they all got re-used so I was a little disappointed as I normally do my shopping on-line and thought I'd hire the car club car on the off chance that they would have some going spare.

Asked someone else on the way out and she said I was welcome to them as they just get squashed and put in a hole in the ground

She sent a young bloke off to get me some and he even carried them to the car for me! They both said if I needed any more to call the store and they could put them aside for me to pick up whenever was convenient.

I will be grinning like crazy woman all afternoon now! Sooooooooo glad I asked again!

We have a guy who stands by the entrance to Asda where they have the flowers, he's there to help (and to stop nicking) so I always ask him if I can have some, he always gets a young lad, who goes away into the back and gives me a load.
They have never said no, always given me at least 12, up to 20 once and all free.
                      I've had loads.

                      Better than Morrisons me thinks.

It was the 'Greeter' (or, as she will be known from now on 'most lovely lady alive') at my local Asda store that sorted mine out for me (not the random person loitering at the end of one of the checkouts!)

Does anyone know if Tesco gives their flower pots away? I was in Tesco today but was doing some shopping for a school project so it didn't enter my mind until now, might go back if someone has had success with them. I'm going to need lots soon

Hi Bramble, I have asked in a branch of Tesco in Sheffield and was told that they recycle their flower buckets. Pity, because they are deep and square!
